Gudda Gudda Ft. Lil' Wayne- Small Thing To A Giant

Lil' Wayne, Weezy F. Baby is in jail. No big surprise there, and I don't mean that in a bad way but its about time that his lyrics caught up with him in that sense. I am shocked it wasn't drugs that got him put away but a gun charge, which I guess would be my second guess. Regardless it doesn't seem like prison is keeping Wayne down, he has a blog which draws "ImOscar.com" references from my mind--the whole blogging from prison thing. Anyway, aside from blogging before Wayne went away he recorded a bunch of music videos and supposedly finished up Tha Carter IV which is perhaps the most anticipated hip hop release since, well Tha Carter III and with the devastatingly underwhelming Rebirth, I think we're all holding our breath to make sure Wayne's still got it.
Cue Gudda Gudda who had a mixtape out with Wayne a year or so back with the freestyle from Tha Carter documentary where he raps about Pepto Bismol. The new track brought to us by the folks over at Lil' Wayne HQ features Wayne tearing it apart, In almost a somber delivery, rapping how he prays for parol--the track not picking up to quicker and cockier delivery until the end of his verse. It's a great track, no blasting bass to keep the summer nights bumpin but it's good to hear Wayne back in his element, not playing guitar and actually rapping. Gudda's part is good too, giving shout to Bear Grylls and no annoying DJ shout outs on the whole track, though my heart did skip a beat when Gudda dropped the Gangsta Grills name. Good track, good to hear from Wayne, grab it.

Delorean- Stay Close

As I've been saying, Summertime is upon us and bike riding season is upon us--I remember an old friend and I used to have songs we considered "bike riding" songs, looking into it and listening to some of these old tracks, they have a common theme of being upbeat and having a feel that they are moving with you, it's kind of hard to explain in words but put on Delorean's new lead track off their forthcoming debut Sybiza which will be out on the fantastic label True Panther later in the month.
Its dance music that could be preformed outdoors, I can picture these guys down in Texas on a patio with lights strung above them and a group of people jumping and dancing to the beat. It's really fantastic, the song having a good build at the start and a definite climax at the end, as the whole record mimics. Stay Close is a track that you could put on repeat and barely notice where it starts and ends, it never really drops off in the sense of a break in action, it has some parts where it leads up to another build but those are welcomed. Below the jump is the video which is just as magical as the song, Enjoy and go for a ride.

Cults- Most Wanted

There was a high of 83° today. Needless to say I spent a good part of the day outdoors, even got to go for a nice bike ride. While looking for my soundtrack to this great day and fumbling with an Arizona Green Tea I came upon a 7" I got earlier in the week but hadn't listened to yet. The band is called Cults and they turned out to be a perfect fit for a nice spring day. The first track "Go Outside" as seen by a quick google search, seems to be the most talked about track but the b-side "Most Wanted" was the track that really caught my attention. It sounds straight from 1960 in the best way possible, summer pop jam put a smile on my face right away. 60's pop riffs followed by fantastic female vocals. Truly a perfectly constructed lo-fi pop gem. It reminded me of riding my bike and listening to a bootleg Four Seasons cassette as a kid, very nostalgic--and I haven't heard a good pop single in awhile.

Some further research revealed that this is a boy-girl film school duo from New York and not much else other than the fact that they are fantastic. I think we are supposed to get one more day of good weather before the cold sets back in if you're in the midwest so don't hesitate to grab this one and get outside.
